Thrive with Change: Practical Tips

Scientifically-proven, super easy tips to implement immediately.

Share a virtual gift

Oxytocin is the hormone responsible for helping behaviour and trust in others. It is activated by positive social interactions, largely through eye contact and physical touch, and makes us care about others in tangible ways, motivating us to work together for a common purpose.

As we navigate hybrid working environments, trust has never been more important but our bodies release less oxytocin as physical interactions are limited.

We need an oxytocin intervention!

Try sending a virtual gift to a team member. A virtual gift could be a link to a funny video, a book or podcast article you think they might like, or a thoughtful note with a personal sentiment attached. Ideally something that delights, not mistaken for a work request.  The key is not to expect a gift in return, just surprise someone for no reason.

Studies showed that receiving gifts raises oxytocin in the recipient, which in turn makes them more likely to pay it forward. The positive ripples begin. Make your virtual gift go further by making it easy to share.

Start a positive ripple and share this video as a gift to someone else.
